They Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out

There is a lot of pressure on young people to know what they want to do, where they're going, and who they're supposed to become—sometimes before they've had enough real-life experience to answer any of those questions.

I've spent years raising kids, coaching athletes, mentoring teens and young adults, and helping young people work through challenges both inside and outside the dojo. I've watched confident kids question themselves, talented young people struggle with direction, and teenagers feel like they're behind simply because they don't have everything figured out yet.

I don't think young people need someone to map out their entire life for them. They need opportunities to learn how to navigate it themselves.

That means learning how to make decisions. How to follow through when something gets difficult. How to manage money. How to communicate. How to work. How to recover from mistakes. How to try something and realize it isn't right for them. And how to change direction without believing they've failed.

Those skills aren't learned all at once.

They're built through experience, responsibility, encouragement, consequences, uncomfortable moments, small wins, and sometimes getting things wrong.

That's what Braver Future is about.

Not creating perfect kids or expecting an 18-year-old to have a ten-year plan. It's about giving teens and young adults practical tools to understand themselves better, build confidence and discipline, explore their options, and become increasingly capable of taking responsibility for their own lives.

Because eventually, the goal isn't for us to make every decision for them.

It's to help them become someone who can make those decisions for themselves.

MINDSET • DISCIPLINE • DIRECTION
